blast from the past

I found a link to my old blog from 2003 today. I wrote it when I came back from Afghanistan, in my job before the last job, when I had my own flat in Karama and life was pretty good. Bizarre, as I thought all that writing was lost... i've managed to post it all below with a 2003 date line.
